We've now been in trial for over two weeks, and seem to be surviving well, even if people are starting to wear a little from the stress. Today, I am on a clear liquid diet, and will start taking a phospoho soda in the afternoon in anticipation of my procedure tomorrow. The lead partner for our firm has been most kind in insisting I drive back to San Francisco early today, I think this is because he has had a colonoscopy himself and knows what it is like. I suppose this is a good thing, in any case, since I have fallen into what I am told is the traditional trial behaviour of eating unhealthy food and not exercising. (Steak, burgers, krispy kreme doughnuts -I've even acquired a small supply of imported English cigarettes, in case I wish to start smoking, which most of our team has resorted to by now.)

The weekend went well overall, although some strange things happened. In addition to working about 10-11 hours, overall, I also spent most of Saturday daytime in a meeting for the State Bar, went to the late night showing of Possession, spent a portion of Sunday back at my apartment in San Francisco, doing laundry and calling parents and friends, and managed to acquire some bath salts, shoes, and a book (for my copious free time). On Sunday, I also narrowly managed to avoid being ticketed coming out of the main San Franciscio library (the police officer was mollified that I was actually parking to return and borrow books). I discovered later, after driving back to San Jose, that my front license plate was missing. This required further contact with the police, this time in their San Jose incarnation, to report it and get the DMV information that I needed. ( I did, however, also have the amusing task of telling the trial office, by way of explanation, that should I be arrested for driving the getaway vehicle in Sunday's armed robbery, it was all a big mistake. . . )

By the way, Possession, I thought, was an excellent film, and has inspired me to investigate acquiring another corset from Dark Garden. It's not entirely a luxury, either, since I hope to do Dickens Faire again this year, and I'd get a Victorian or Edwardian style one (my current is sort of baroque). I'm thinking a red, rust or wine color. . .

Possession also inspired me to embark on a tragic love affair, have a secret pregnancy, the child of which I could hide from the father until his death. (Thus solving my wish to at some point have 1) a vague social life, 2) the experience of childbirth, and 3)a little more drama in my life.) However, I think this should wait until at least October, certianly after trial ends, so that I can consider the plan with 1) a balanced mental state, (15 hour work days and constant stress make me a little crazy) 2) a full stomach, and 3) a decent night's sleep.

Honestly, the film did make me consider a number of my personal attitudes and issues, which I hope to discuss at greater extent in the future. But for now, I'm just pleased that I managed to get my posting for my pension benefits class done last night, and that I've booked a service to come and fetch me post-procedure tomorrow.
