And I Sing This For The Captain -
Jul. 15th, 2002 10:21 amDespite everything, it was a good trip - long stretches of open highway, with Leonard Cohen singing in the background (I got through Various Positions, Death of a Ladies' Man, and I'm Your Man), the crescent moon over Highway 246 with the Oyster Band playing. I'm not used to roads like those - just miles of darkness with the outline of rolling hills, no lights, no stars, just the ink black sky and the milky moon. Six hundred miles, all on my own - even though I did get to see some friends and acquaintances at Live Oak, and I even got a little recognition. I wore a dress the color of berries, and acquired a matching pouch, a copper coin with a Tudor Rose, and a net of white for my hair. Would it have been different with a companion? Yes. Would it have been better? I don't think so.
